We are very selective about who we take on. We are based primarily in North Perth, Western Australia and we also train at Daniel Dawson’s LEGENDS GYM in Coolbinia, both just slightly north of Perth city. [NOTE: We do not teach children].
These are the attributes that we look for in a prospective student:

-> DISCIPLINE to learn
-> RESPECT for other people
-> HONOURABLE and ETHICAL behaviour at all times
-> HONESTY and INTEGRITY.
Our style of KARATE is like no other. We combine TRADITIONAL values with HIGHLY PRACTICAL TECHNIQUES. We do not rely on any move that has questionable effectiveness. Just because “it has always been done that way” is not good enough for us. If it works, it works. If it doesn’t work in the dojo then it will NEVER work out on the streets. We do not teach that stuff. For example, the inside to outside block, known in karate as “Ude Uke.” Such a block is completely ineffective to stop a punch. So, we do not use it that way. We also REFUSE to teach misnomers like blocking a kick with an arm. The classic example here is to use Gedan Barai to deflect a Mae Geri. We will never teach that because it is not only completely ineffective, it’s DANGEROUS!
We do NOT participate in karate tournaments because our techniques are too dangerous for that. Further, there are a whole host of reasons why we do not like these types of events. KARATE is deeply personal so you should never be comparing what you can do with other people.
As a student, after your very first lesson, you will walk away KNOWING that you now have some physical “weapons” to counter the average bully. You will come to us feeling defenceless and leave, in just ONE lesson, knowing that you can take care of yourself if need be. This comes about through learning the 12-step kata, ZANSHIN SHODAN.
One of our greatest joys is being able to pass our knowledge on to others so they may IMPROVE and be a greater person today than what they were yesterday. We also make guest appearances to other clubs and at seminars. We are not ego driven and we do not force our opinions and ideas onto others.
We aspire to the meaning and the words of Max Ehrmann’s 1927 poem, Desiderata. Look it up if you are unfamiliar with it.
