The term “Yudansha” is used to describe the senior instructors of a Japanese-Okinawan based budo (fighting or war) organisation.
The Yudansha may use honorific titles which are, in order from lowest to highest:
Sempai – Assistant Instructor (generally anywhere from 2nd kyu brown belt to 2nd Dan black belt)
Sensei – Instructor (generally 2nd to 3rd Dan black belt – but may be used all the way to 10th Dan black belt)
Renshi – Senior Instructor (generally 4th to 5th Dan black belt)
Kyoshi – High Instructor (generally from 6th to 8th Dan black belt)
Hanshi – Master Instructor (generally 8th to 10th Dan black belt)
Other titles do exist such as Shihan (senior black belt – generally 5th to 10th Dan black belt) and O’Sensei (much revered and ONLY reserved for deceased masters).
If you click DOWN from the tab marked YUDANSHA you will find our main instructors.
